I am very pleased to announce the results of the glow-in-the-dark Blue Winkie shirt experiment.

After leaving the shirt in direct sunlight this afternoon for about three hours, it did, indeed, glow in the dark. I could read it with no problem in the downstairs, windowless half bath with the door closed and the light out. It's a good thing that I'm not afraid of the dark or claustrophobic..... So, yes. They do glow in the dark. (I am, however, reluctant to expose a BLACK t-shirt to that much sunlight for too extended period of time..... I'll end up with a very dark green or very dark purple faded black t-shirt, depending on the pigment in the dye.)

Buy one and try it for yourselves!

Fluorescent sources do a bang-up job too. It's the UV that the glow in the dark dyes like. So hit it with a nice bright flo-tube and watch the show. That's what I do. But then I have an unspecified form of autism that leaves me helpless in the presence of glow-in-the-dark trinkets and anime.

Why not go the whole hog and not risk any fading, or let on that you have that special kind of autism.

Not saying that's what I'd do... ;)

Ooooooo! Spud Gun, you'd like this, I'll bet: http://liazrdqueen.deviantart.com/art/Dorm-Room-V-Paisley-115438433

Trust me. Twisted Evil

Unfortunately, I'm rather short of fluorescent bulbs in my house. Hmnh. I never noticed that before...... So, sunshine will have to do. Actually, Hunter, I suspect your - ahem! - "affliction" is a rather more a function of your not-so-inner child!

I have nothing to do with the coding of the forums... (thank all the Gods)

Not to say that I've not written forum software in my time, but just saying that I have no input into this stuff except as a "normal" poster like everyone else.

I even managed to say that last bit without bursting out laughing! Very Happy

you don't look like a poster. A postcard, I think, or perhaps a handbill. Certainly not a poster.

I do indeed enjoy the presence of male-condition people.

Bit-O-Trivia. The "brighteners" in laundry detergent are actually transparent fluorescent dyes which glow under ultra-violet light.

That makes whites and colors appear to be brighter.
